Plot[]

Part 1[]

The episode starts with the boys of the Teen Titans whipping up their looks for the girls. The three wait and finalize themselves on the couch, and Robin quietly announces that Raven and Starfire are about to enter the living room. As they do, the three boys stand up and greet them, the two giving suspicious looks back at them. Beast Boy steps up ahead of him, and he warns them calmly that there was a puddle right in front of him, and the two question him why it was moist. He tells them that he over hydrates with the water, and the girls look at him with confusion. Cyborg and Robin then come up to them and adds on what Beast Boy said, making the females even more disgusted when he laid his coat on top of the pond.

As the two crosses over the wet and leathery bridge, Robin moves up ahead of them and stands to a wooden door, and Raven and Starfire become confused...again. Starfire asks Robin why there is a wooden door in the doorway to the kitchen, and Robin says that he has installed a new door so that he will be able to open it for the ladies.

The two girls go through the doors, that is opened by the boys. With a snap of her finger, Raven manages to make all of the wooden doors disappear. The two approach the fridge, and they are greeted by the chilliness and the ice fog caused by the fridge opening. The boys, however, look at them in horror. Rather than noticing how the girls are enjoying the cool breeze of the fridge, Cyborg forces the two to wear his coat. Seconds later, Beast Boy provides his wet leather jacket to them, and Robin does the same. Few more seconds later, the boys put even more jackets on the girls, making the girls sweaty due to the insulation of heat was kept in all of those jackets.

Infuriated, Raven uses her magic and starts to hurl the clothes at the boys before teleporting Starfire and herself to the living room, only to be greeted by the boys once again. Starfire tells Raven that the boys might have somewhat creatures called the "brainworms" in their heads, and Raven blames the boys for the former’s reason. Beast Boy says that he does happen to have worms in his stomach, but not in his brains. His statement bugs out Raven.

Robin says that they were doing the policy called: Chivalry! Beast Boy says that during chivalry, men were to act like proper gentlemen around ladies. But, Raven interrupts that Chivalry was 100% DEAD. Cyborg states that was some terrible news, and Beast Boy lends his coat again. Raven summons a hammer and whacks it on Beast Boy's head, resulting in his body going through the floor.

Then, Robin counters Raven by stating that "Chivalry will never die, because being a gentleman never goes out of style," and Beast Boy comes out of his hole agreeing with him. He goes to Raven and takes out a cat. He strokes it, and says to Raven seductively, "So gentle..." and winks at her, which causes her to feel uncomfortable. Cyborg suddenly takes the cat and starts stroking it as well, except it's even more gentle than Beast Boy's strokes. Robin suddenly takes the cat, and strokes it even more gently than the other two's strokes, declaring that his entire body is a butterfly kiss and uses the cat to whip his armpit. Afterward, the three boys continue to stroke the poor cat, who is suffering from their weird touches, and Raven comments how the whole chivalry thing is creeping her out.

Suddenly, the crime alert rings, and as Robin throws away the innocent cat, he and the other boys figure out that it's The Brain, who is up to something big again. Starfire offers to help the boys to beat up the Brain with Raven, but Robin tells her to leave this mission to him and his bros, and the boys push the girls onto the couch while Beast Boy puts a thick Eskimo coat onto the girls. Raven questions the boys' seriousness, and Cyborg claims they can't be gentlemen if they can't handle this case by themselves. Raven objects by telling him that he and the other boys should treat her and Starfire as equals, but Beast Boy sees her reaction as she's feeling cold again, and he forcefully zips the coat for her, much to the anger she's trying to constrain.

Before heading off to the Brain's secret lair, Robin tells the girls to let them handle the case as they're now "nice and warm" and shouts: "Gentlemen, go!." However, after the three boys reached the lair with T-Plane and using three ropes to enter it, they instantly face armies of Brain Soldiers. Since they were unprepared, they get knocked out one by one and being put into a jail cell with laser bars. The Brain comments that defeating them is remarkably easy while asking where are the tough ones (referring to the girls). The boys (mainly Cyborg) explain that they handle this for the ladies because they're the gentlest men around, but the Brain is dissatisfied as the girls possess so much strength and good sense, and it's unwise to face him without them. Beast Boy teases how the Brain doesn't understand chivalry, but the Brain warns him and the other boys to get comfortable as they'll be staying in the cell for a long, long time while walking away with his soldiers...

Meanwhile, the girls are playing with their 3DS-like game consoles when Starfire's T-Communicator rings, telling her that she has received a video call. She and Raven then answer the call. In front of the TV screen, Robin apologizes that he and the other bros aren't home yet because they got a little sidetracked. But Beast Boy honestly admits that the three of them have been captured by the Brain while Cyborg assures girls that they don't need to worry their “pretty little heads” about their plight, and Robin guarantees that all three of them will bust out and be back the tower for dinner, before they ended the conversation with "Gentlemen, out."

Starfire looks at Raven and inquires the latter, who does chivalry entails the boys being quickly apprehended and then saved by the ladies, to which Raven agrees. But she tells Starfire not to worry as she has got a plan. First, disable the security system; second, take out the Brain's massive army; third, break through the giant metal door; last but not least, save the dudes with her portal, tuck them into bed and make fun of them being caught and acting stupid. Starfire is amazed by Raven's detailed plan. However, she points out that there are only two of them, and they need a team. Fortunately, Raven already had a few people in mind, and the two girls set off.

In the meantime, the boys are still stuck in the jail cell. Beast Boy asks how are they going to escape, and Cyborg suggests finding more gentlemen to help them. Robin then stops walking around and states that he has the perfect plan, with Cyborg complimenting him as a genius upon discovering that he has been hiding a hair clip and thinking of it as a lock-pick, Beast Boy believes that Robin is using it to remote hack the security systems. Nevertheless, Robin throws away the clip (which is soon destroyed by the bars) and says that they're going to do NOTHING, sit inside until the three of them grow old, disappointing his bros. As Cyborg points out that THIS isn't an escape plan, Robin justifies his actions (using a roll of toilet paper as an explanation) by mooting that nobody likes old prisoners because they're depressing and gross. So if they grow old, they'll have a higher chance of being released by the Brain and can save themselves through time-traveling. His bros are impressed with his elaborate plan and follow his suggestion.

At the same time, the girls arrive at Jump City Juvenile Correction Facility via Raven's portal and there they meet their frenemy, Jinx. Starfire amiably greets Jinx and the latter joyously asks them about their purpose of visiting her, believing that they're gonna have a crazy girls' night out together. Hearing Raven replies with "Sort of," she excitedly suggests drinking milkshakes and make one another shoot the drinks from their noses by laughing harder. Raven accepts Jinx's offer, though she doesn't forget to remind her that she's thinking of something crazier and can't do without the latter. Jinx then recruits herself as part of Raven and Starfire's team after Raven promises her to have milkshakes IF they have time, and Starfire shoots out starbolts to free her from her cell. When Starfire is curious about why Jinx is having a bucket, Jinx sprinkles confetti to surprise them, before the three of them continue their mission.

Later on, Rose Wilson (who probably ran out of prison some time ago and is now living under a driving overpass) has shown practicing dagger-throwing when she sees Raven arrives with Starfire and Jinx. She is vexed by their visit and interrogates Raven what's their intention, even referring to them as losers, only to be retorted by Raven's sarcasm along with Starfire and Jinx's giggling. Although initially annoyed by the three girls' laughing, Rose soon admits that she misses Raven, and Raven returns the same after confessing not having a belly laugh for a long time. In the beginning, Rose is unwilling to join in the girls' squad, but as Starfire invites her to have milkshakes together, she reluctantly becomes a member, though she and Raven still refuse to have a group hug offered by Starfire. A while later, the female Titans, along with Jinx and Rose, reach Trash Hole (once again, with Raven's portal) when Raven senses the presence of Terra, who's combining rocks and debris to create a large boulder. Out of defense, Raven uses her magic to retaliate and smashes it. Witnessing her foiled attack and rival, Terra is piqued. On the other hand, Raven is glad to see Terra being angered and mocks the latter's life by calling the surrounding smell "stinks." Terra replies that it's possible originated from the rubbish, that Raven and the other Titans have thrown into this place before using more rocks as an act of revenge, though her attack is blocked by Raven's magic shield. Raven decides to tell Terra that she and the three other girls need her help. But the latter refuses because she holds a grudge on how she is being imprisoned in the dumpster due to the former. Even when the former offers to let her get out until she hears that Starfire, along with the former and the two other girls, might reconsider leaving her alone in this hole. Wanting to leave this place desperately as well as avenge herself, Terra changes her mind, much to Starfire's joy. She doesn't forget to deny her intention after she unknowingly voices it out, but Starfire already notices upon seeing how she does the evil hand rubbing, so she lies that her hands were cold and pretends to feel so, before enthusiastically becoming part of the squad.

On the contrary, the male Titans are having no luck. Cyborg and Beast Boy are getting impatient with the time machine (which Robin mentioned earlier) not appearing, until the time machine appears and their elderly counterparts walk out, with old Robin blaming old Beast Boy's incessant potty breaks. Old Cyborg has a hard hearing, hence Old Beast Boy needs to repeat old Robin's sentence, though the old cyborg still can't understand, which irritates the old leader. Young Robin, annoyed, gives them a cue to press the button to release him, young Cyborg and young Beast Boy. Old Robin, who is indeed OLD, has to rely on the GPS, and worse, not only the old men are approaching extremely slow, but also two of them fall asleep. Not to mention that... as young Robin urges him, old Robin accidentally presses the wrong button (which is alarm instead of open). Due to his blurry vision and hesitation, the old men result getting trapped too.

With the girl squad officially formed, Raven, who is in charge of leadership, commands the start of "Operation Dude Rescue." Terra, Rose, and Jinx follow her order dash towards the Brain’s lair, yet Starfire suggests to pause to leave suspense for the audience, to which the three agree. And with Raven being the minority, she has to let part one being left with a cliffhanger, before the "to be continued" scene pops out.

Part 2[]

Starfire recalls the events of the first half, when she and Raven hesitantly turned to the villainesses Terra, Jinx and Ravager for help rescuing the boys from the Brain. Then Raven, who regards this as nonsense, advises Starfire that it’s better to report how they defeat the Brain. Accepting Raven’s suggestion, Starfire concludes the segment and tells the audience that they’re resuming the episode.

Back in the Brain's lair, Raven repeats the instructions of the plan to the other girls, which slightly annoys Rose, Terra and Jinx. Rose says that she obviously knows, Terra tells Raven that the latter has reminded them two seconds ago and Jinx doubts that if Raven is seeing them as dummies. After Raven admits that she said it two seconds ago but it felt longer, Starfire commences the rescue. Rose places an object to burn out a hole on the lair's exterior wall, and Jinx, being the first to enter the tower, knocks on the metal doors. A Brain Soldier appears as the doors automatically open, he is welcomed by Starfire and the rest of the girl squad, only to be banished away by Raven's portal. The squad enters the control panel room, and Jinx obeys Raven's command on destroying the security system with her bad luck, in which she gleefully describes as the start of her "girls' night". Raven compliments Jinx's work, but then Terra takes this as her advantage to speak out her wicked thoughts on wanting to dance on the Titans' graves (if she ever has the chance!), though she quickly tries to negate her statement by lying nervously that she's looking forward to the milkshakes when Raven suspects her, which Jinx agrees and adds some sound of expressing excitement.

In the meanwhile, back to the guys who are still stuck in jail, old Robin grumbles that this is not how he wanted to spend his last years. Young Robin puts down the toilet roll and announces a new plan. Young Cyborg anticipatedly asks whether does it involve time machines, and Robin proves him right. Beast Boy anticipates how Robin the mad scientist would come up with the idea. Young Robin tells them that they'll wait until the old "them" die, and old Robin continues by saying that letting their ghost forms to grab a time machine and save them. The two Robins give each other a high-five and their wishes come true: two time machines show up, and the old man calls his teen self a genius. The ghosts go out from the machines and promise to rescue them, but ghost Cyborg finds out that his hands pass through the activation panel and being unable to activate the "open" button, which ghost Robin expounds to their living selves that they can't touch stuff. Both young and old Cyborgs and Beast Boys become frustrated while the Robins can only look blankly with disappointment.

Then scene switches focus to troops of marching armed Brain Soldiers. Raven, who carefully pokes her head and observes them, orders Rose to break much stuff as desire. Rose is pleased to see how Raven understands her, and Raven feels the same, yet their bonding is halted when Terra, who is displeased to watch them being friends, interjects. Despite her dissatisfaction of being interrupted, Rose proceed her job: she suggests on having a distraction and after Raven tells Starfire, who willingly fulfills the role like a fisherman to act as a bait by screaming that she's a worm and swiftly escapes via Raven's portal, she switches roles with Rose who instantly takes action. With her trusty katana and dagger, Rose skillfully finishes off the robot army by disembodying them confidently.

We're back to the cell where the male Titans are being locked in. Ghost Robin complains that being imprisoned is not how he wanted to spend his afterlife. He is so bored that he scares the living daylights of Elderly Robin. Young Robin reassures them that he has another backup plan, and says he's gifted on planning when Cyborg is inquisitive on how he can come up with plans continuously. This time, he suggests that they should wait until their ghosts are reincarnated, and the three guys' reincarnations (a mouse, a meerkat and a chameleon respectively) arrive much to the guys' expectation after Young Beast Boy bets on the appearance of a time machine and gets praised by Robin who proceeds to map out the rest of the plan. But the three young male Titans are puzzled by the logic of reincarnation, and Ghost Cyborg's mockery doesn't solve his young living self's confusion. Beast Boy is interested to see his future meerkat form, while Robin focuses on seeking help from his mouse form. His mouse form is too focused on cheese, hence Robin has to remind it to concentrate but to no avail thanks to the mouse's desire on cheese and language barriers, so he has to make up a new alternative scheme AGAIN.

After Rose finishes off with the robots, Raven leads the girl squad and tells Terra to help them pass through the door, but then she becomes perplex upon noticing Terra snickering and muttering some sort of upcoming double-crossing before giving out a wicked laugh. Impatient, Raven pokes her head out of the other side of a portal and impels Terra, who denies once again her evil plotting awhile ago, to help them. Terra attempts to crash the door with two rocks she has taken from the ground but nothing happens, so Rose belittles her... until she powers up herself with stones and rocks as her armor, and with her newly-acquired and advanced superpowers, she manages to smash the door, impressing Rose and the other girls. But when Rose perceives the reason for Terra to do so is to consider the door as her face (in other words, Terra wants to indirectly vent her loathing towards Rose), which greatly bothers Rose and the two are about to fight until Jinx, who steps in to solve their conflict, cheerily reminds them to divert their focus onto the milkshakes and sprays some confetti.

Nonetheless, when the girl squad eventually reaches the presumable cell that the boys are being held captive... it turns out to be empty and the toilet roll is the only object inside! This confuses Raven, but not for much longer. The Brain himself projects his virtual self through a screen, confining them in a dome. The Brain then addresses how fortunate he is on being warned for their arrival, at first, Rose questions him, but Raven already knows who's the traitor is...the treacherous TERRA! Terra, who is more focused on her "successful" revenge and hasn't realized such betrayal has also caused herself to get trapped as well, vilely rags them for being fools who didn't notice how she rubbed her hands. Jinx concedes that she truly believed that Terra's hands were too cold and Starfire reveals that she had kindly knitted a pair of yarn mittens for Terra. Still, this doesn't change the fact that Terra's hands, which has thick eyebrows and curly mustaches, laugh nefariously, displaying her bad nature. Raven sarcastically "compliments" Terra on being a genius who indirectly imprisons herself, though Terra address that this dome is better than the Trash Hole. Anyway, Raven, Starfire, Jinx and Rose don't want to be sitting ducks for sure, so they attempt using every power and ability they have (dark magic for Raven, katana for Rose, starbolts for Starfire and bad luck for Jinx, respectively) yet all their efforts end up useless. The Brain dissuades them from trying by informing that the dome is specifically created to counteract their powers and "hopes" them like it because it'll be their tomb before ending the conversation. Rose is incensed that they've entered their own prison cell and Jinx sardonically says how awesome their situation is.

In the interim, the male Titans have summoned more of their counterparts. While his rat form is pulling strains of his hair, Robin declares that they can wait their animal equivalents to evolve into humans, with the others continue the procedures of the plan of grabbing the time machine, not forgetting to cheer. Much to their expectations, the cavemen versions of the guys arrive, but since they lack the complete ability to comprehend modern language, they destroy the pole even Caveman Robin guess the correct button, upsetting Robin while the dumb caveman mistakes his destruction for helping their imprisoned correspondents.

Back in the dome where the girls are trapped, Starfire sadly knits the ends of the yarn mittens into Terra's evil hands. On the other hand, Jinx complains to Raven bitterly as a “gratitude” for bringing her along in this mission, and Raven replies that she never said it was gonna be fun. Jinx still thinks that Raven has hinted at the supposed fun strongly and intentionally, so Starfire tries to cheer Jinx up by informing that she is enjoying herself, only to be called as a princess by Rose who berates her frustration. Raven deems “princess” as an insult towards Starfire (her closest friend) thus she scolds Rose for saying so. Annoyed, Terra eventually hopes them to know the reason of why she double-crossed them, which sparks off a huge argument between the five of them.

Abruptly, Raven begins to wonder why they are they bickering, and Terra assumes that is it because they hate one another. But Raven rebukes that by telling Terra that she wouldn't have brought the five of them together if that were true. Jinx then guesses it was due to the urgency of saving Raven and Starfire's guy friends, yet Raven apprises Jinx that she rather ignore the guys' safety owing to their irritation they've brought for her and Starfire, which Starfire concurs and adds that it's their greatest power. In fact, Raven confesses that the boys are bumming her out and all she wants is to hang out with some cool chicks for a change, admitting that Terra is cool enough for her taste... except for the revenge thing. Terra soon admits that it is out of her system... at least temporarily. As Rose informs that they're still stuck inside the dome, Raven realizes that their powers might be weak individually but... Rose interrupts Raven's speech by questioning that whether she is lecturing a lesson on working together. Starfire continues the speech by adding that if they use their powers jointly, they may overload the security system. When Terra doubts how are they supposed to work as a team, Jinx uses a radio to play music in order to jazz up their morale and Raven announces the beginning of their teamwork.

With the combination of their powers, the five girls manage to create spiked weapon and Terra blasts it onto the dome, freeing themselves. However, things aren't over: witnessing how they escape the cell, the Brain ultimately confronts them in the form of a robot, leading to a fierce battle. Firstly, Jinx shoots some hex blasts to break some poles and Starfire aims to bomb him with her bolts, though both of them miss. Rose strives to slash him with her katana while climbing up the rock steps Terra provides for her, but he easily breaks her katana. As Rose returns on darting towards him, Raven assists her by unlocking an exit, allowing a sword to fall from above. With Jinx and Starfire diverting the Brain's attention, Rose instantly fetches the sword and after Raven enlarges it, she slits him hard and this attack causes him to get separated from his robotic body, ensuing his defeat.

But in the end, even if the Brain has been defeated, as the girl squad approaches the boys' prison, with Starfire introducing their arrival, they only spot the boys having a bunch of counterparts and the boys' rejection to them, as the three still sticks to the obsolete concept of... serving them with chivalry! Cyborg's offering of his coat and Robin's proposal on opening the door for them puzzles and slightly vexes the female Titans and the villainesses (including Cyborg's girlfriend Jinx), and even when Rose considers them weird, the boys continue to show off their stupid "knightniless". Seeing their efforts to rescue the boys as a waste of time, Raven rather have milkshakes, and with Jinx joyfully agreeing, the girl squad decides to ditch Robin, Beast Boy, Cyborg and their time-travel counterparts to go have their Girl's Night Out at the diner, while Robin proceeds on thinking how to leave the cell with an idea of more time-machine related projects.

Characters[]

Trivia[]

  • This is the second half-hour special of the series. The first one was "Two Parter".
  • This is Terra and Ravager's first speaking roles in Season three of the series.
  • This is the second time Jinx cooperates with one of the Teen Titans. The first was in "Opposites" with Cyborg.
  • This is the first time Terra and Ravager cooperate with one of the Teen Titans.
  • This episode is very similar to "Brian". Both involve five characters teaming up to save the Titans from The Brain.
  • It seems that the bad blood between Raven and Rose is resolved, due to them saying they've missed each other, alluding to the time they spent together in "Cool School".
  • At the end, the rivalry between the female Titans and villains seems to be no more, and they became friends, albeit on-and-off friends, as they continue to fight in later episodes.
  • As of the end of this episode, Terra no longer resides in the Trash Hole.
  • This is the second episode with the word "Operation" being the beginning word of the title. The first episode was "Operation Tin Man".
  • This episode reunites Ashley Johnson and Pamela Adlon, whom voiced Gretchen and Spinelli (respectively) in the Disney animated series, Recess.
    • This episode also reunites Pamela with Lauren Tom, whom voiced Bobby and Connie (respectively) in the animated sitcom, King of the Hill. Ashley also voiced Emily the hall monitor on King of the Hill.
  • Not counting the opening sequence where Starfire and Raven discuss the "Previously On" segment, Part 2 is one of the few episodes in which Titans Tower does not appear.
  • While stroking a pussycat, Beast Boy flirtatiously tells Raven, while winking at her, how "gentle" he could be. This joke seems to be a hidden innuendo.
  • Ironically, Raven and Starfire originally planned to rescue the boys from the Brain, but in the end, they just ditched them instead.
  • The score played during the girls' battle with the Brain is a Telepics track called "Yeah Yeah Yeah".
  • Monsieur Mallah is absent in this episode.

Continuity[]

References[]

  • The enlarged magic sword Raven gives to Rose may be a reference to Final Fantasy VII's "Buster Sword".
  • Rose's hideout under the bridge has a drawing of Raphael, who's one of the members of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
  • In one scene, Reincarnated Robin (a rat) is seen on Robin's head and holding strands of his hair in each paw. This is a reference to Remy the Rat from the 2007 Disney-Pixar film, Ratatouille.
  • One of the coats that Cyborg gives to the girls looks like a Hogwarts robe from the Harry Potter franchise.
    • Also, one of the jackets Cyborg holds up is Goose's jacket from the Tom Cruise's movie, Top Gun.
  • Raven and Starfire are both seen playing consoles akin to the Nintendo 3DS when the boys are absent.

Errors[]

  • Interesting enough, when Raven and the other girls go into the Trash Hole to seek Terra, Terra is still trapped in it, but in earlier episodes, Terra was seen participating in Heads Up Seven Up in "I'm the Sauce" and was seen hanging out with Jinx at the mall in "Accept the Next Proposition You Hear" with no conclusion to how she escaped.
    • The reason why Terra was present in "I'm the Sauce" was probably because the Titans released her to play Heads Up Seven Up, since they brought several other villains to participate in the activity.
  • It is also unknown how Terra knew about the milkshakes when Jinx disabled the security system.
  • When the male Titans’ ghosts arrived, they can’t touch the button since it passes through it, revealing that ghosts never touch things. When the ghosts are trapped in jail, they should have been able to go through the cell bars.
    • Also, the ghosts should not have sat on the chairs.
    • Also, how could they have gotten captured, or even used the time machine if they can't touch anything or be touched.

Running Gags[]

  • The male Titans trying to act like gentlemen.
  • The male Titans offering Raven and Starfire their coats.
  • Terra saying her evil plans out loud.
  • The thought about the female Titans and female villains going out for milkshakes being brought up.
  • The male Titans using a time machine as part of their plans to escape.
  • The female Titans and female villains posing for the "girls night" backdrop.
  • Meerkat Beast Boy staring at the audience.
  • The male Titans failing to escape despite their many, many attempts.
