The Night Begins to Shine is an original song by the band B.E.R. that is lip-synced by Cyborg in the episode, "Slumber Party" episode before his bedtime. In "40%, 40%, 20%", the song makes another occurrence.

This time around, though, the whole episode is centered around it, as Cyborg can't stop singing it, on account of it giving him all of his willpower and later in the series, the song made a third occurrence as the focal point of a movie special event, "The Night Begins to Shine."

A five-part sequel to the four-part special aired on July 10, 2020, marketed as The Night Begins to Shine 2.

A spin-off show inspired by the song is in the works, titled Teen Titans Go! The Night Begins to Shine.

INTRO

VERSE 1:

I saw you dance
from the corner
I caught your name
in a conversation

BRIDGE 1:

Playing hard to get,
But I can't understand.

CHORUS:

When I look at you,
I see the story in your eyes.
When we're dancing,
the night begins to shine.
Night begins to shine,
the night begins to shine.
Night begins to shine.
When we're dancing,
the night begins to shine.

VERSE 2:

Talk 'til dawn,
my heart was racing.
I took you home,
in the driving rain.

BRIDGE 2:

Had my mind made up.
I wanna feel your touch.

CHORUS:

When I look at you,
I see the story in your eyes.
When we're dancing,
the night begins to shine.
Night begins to shine,
the night begins to shine.
Night begins to shine.
When we're dancing,
the night begins to shine.

VERSE 3:

The night begins to shine.
Tonight (the night begins to shine)

BRIDGE 2:

Had my mind made up,
I wanna feel your touch.

CHORUS:

When I look at you,
I see the story in your eyes.

When we're dancing,

the night begins to shine.
Night begins to shine,
the night begins to shine.
Night begins to shine,
the night begins to shine.
Night begins to shine,
the night begins to shine.
Night begins to shine.
When we're dancing,
the night begins to shine (night begins to shine)
the night begins to shine (night begins to shine)
Night begins to shine,
the night begins to shine (the night begins to shine)

Trivia[]

  • It's revealed in "40%, 40%, 20%" that this song was composed forty percent by the drummer Carl Burnett. The lead guitarist Franklin "Frank" Enea contributed another forty percent, and the last "sweet sweet" twenty percent was written by a keyboard player, William "Billy Red" J. Reagan. Their last names form the initials B.E.R., hence their band's name.
    • These different contributions are what gives the episode its name.
    • The song was written and produced entirely by Franklin Enea, although he only composed 40% of it, and was originally only meant to be a one-off song used for 40%, 40%, 20%.
    • In The Night Begins to Shine 2: You're The One, it is revealed that there was a fourth member named Neil Adams, who turned evil due to his power and discovered the art of silence and tried to outlaw music, though he was defeated by the rest of B. E. R. His last name makes the name of the band spell B. E. A. R.
      • Though there is no such singer/musician named Neil Adams in real life, so his character and existence was created solely for the cartoon itself. B.E.R will always only have 3 members.
  • An instrumental of this track can be heard when the Titans are pulling a prank on Batman in "Slumber Party".
  • As seen in 40%, 40%, 20%, there is a remix of the song, along with a remix by DJ Aqualad.
  • In 40%, 40%, 20%, Carl Burnett is depicted as an astronaut, Frank Enea is a blue-skinned guy with fiery orange hair, and Billy Red Reagan is a red-skinned dragon with lime-green shades.
  • It can be seen at the beginning when Cyborg is talking about the song that he bought it for $0.25, but if you buy it at the iTunes store it will cost $0.99.
    • This is only because the minimum price of an iTunes song is $0.99.
      • He may have got it from another service. Also, he could have got it from a shop clearance sale or coupon.
  • This was the first Teen Titans Go! song that could be purchased on iTunes. A list of other Teen Titans Go! songs such as BBRae (Bae), Don't Fiddle With It, Got Go! and others can now be purchased on iTunes.
  • This song is the first song that has a multi-part episode dedicated to it.
  • There are three official remixes of this song made. The remixes are sung by Fall Out Boy, CeeLo Green and Puffy AmiYumi.
  • This song became a hit on Billboard rock charts for the week of August 26th, 2017, ranking at #23 on the chart thanks to the popularity it gained from Teen Titans Go!.
    • This song also peaked at #66 on the iTunes music charts and #1 on the iTunes rock music charts.
  • In The Night Begins to Shine 2, the dark lord Ultralak reveals he is the fourth member of B.E.R, named Neil Adams, which may reference to Beast Boy's calling the band "bear."
